Extroverted Thinking with Introverted Intuition
Logical, Decisive, Planned, Tough, Strategic, Critical, Controlled, Challenging, Straightforward, Objective, Fair, Theoretical
General:
ENTJs take charge quickly and deal directly with problems, especially in situations that involve confusion and inefficiency. They develop broad, action-oriented plans, and supply the necessary energy and momentum to see that these plans are accomplished. ENTJs are “take charge” people who organize their own and others’ external environments. They do not take “no” for an answer; instead they use their resources to find a way to meet the challenge.
Living:
ENTJ children need to have goals for everything. These goals may be related to achievements such as swimming the fifty-yard freestyle one second faster than they did the previous year. They seek power and control and are often leaders. ENTJ children desire structure and order. When a structure is acceptable to them, they will go along with it; when it is not, they challenge and attempt to change it. ENTJs enjoy an active and diverse lifestyle. They are consistently looking for the most strategic way to organize and accomplish a task. ENTJs see life as a series of strategic moves so they likely to commit to a career goal early in their teen years. For ENTJs, the critical thing is their understanding of the things they are doing. Whatever they do must make sense to their logic or they may have difficulty doing it. They are aware of the factors they want in their career, such as prestige, status, and money, and most expeditious ways to attain them. In mature adulthood, ENTJs are often in leadership positions in their work. Work and its related activities may become their lives. ENTJs may find retirement unsettling, boring and difficult. They may find it easier to retire when they find things they to want to do. They may maintain true friendships but will ignore those acquaintances who are not enjoyable to them.
Learning:
ENTJs see education as one of the major ways of getting ahead. They are willing to learn about the past and what is but always with the mind-set of how that information affects their future. They especially enjoy critiquing and solving problems systematically. ENTJs learn best through a variety of instructional methods such as lectures and group activities. ENTJ are organized and will set up a schedule and work to attain the goal within that time.
Working:
ENTJs prefer a work environment that contains results-oriented tough-minded and independent people focused on complex organizational issues. They contribute a wealth of energy directed toward their goals and those of the organization. ENTJs often becomes their jobs. Their sense of identity is closely tied to how they carry out their responsibilities. They are curious about new ideas and theories, evaluating them in terms of their goals. They are efficient, often fiercely competitive, strategic and task focused. They enjoy occupations such as administrator, marketing, mortgage banker, manager, executives etc.
Leading:
It has been said that ENTJs cannot not lead. They are quick to take charge and are quite decisive about whatever they consider to be logically necessary. They are action oriented, energetic, rough-minded and direct. They are willing to take different assignments, when those involves complex problems and long-range planning.
Leisure:
ENTJs are not naturally oriented toward leisure time for leisure’s sake. For them, the best leisure activities have a purpose, such as developing business, maintain health, or critiquing ideas. A party becomes enjoyable when there is intense conversation about an idea, a group efforts to work toward a goal, or when there is a need to understand a concept. ENTJs have difficulty with having nothing to do. They can hardly sit still for ten minutes without thinking about what he would do next. ENTJs like to be involved in constructive activities that are regularly scheduled, for example, one ENTJ may enjoy playing piano every night because he found it extremely challenging.
Loving:
For the ENTJ, love needs to fit into the overall picture and may become subservient to their large goals. Love means a match between the ENTJ’s needs and what the partner provides. The loved one is, in a sense, an extension of the ENTJ’s vision, preferable acting in a supportive, not competing, role. They like to “win the heart” of the attractive other. However, they prefer partners who complete their own image of success and attractiveness. The partner of an ENTJ can expect a hard-working and industrious provider who may use the fruits of his or her labor as an expression of love.
